Kirklands Country House Hotel is a small, family-run country house hotel, situated in pleasant rural suroundings only a few minutes from the Solway coast. The hotel is located only yards from the Ruthwell Church, home to the famous Ruthwell Cross. Ruthwell also boasts the Savings Bank Museum, an 18th century building which was home to the worlds first Savings Bank, founded in 1810 by Dr Henry Duncan.

Dumfries and Galloway hosts an abundance of visitor attractions and activities for all ages. As well as having 31 golf courses, the area has many resources dedicated to walking, cycling, wildfowling, watersports and fishing.
